Rubescent Pastures I,II, III
A panoramic view of a prairie landscape where I grew up. The house I was raised in is towards the left and I would walk (still do) across this field to the secret section of land. (see previous post). It was not planned to do a panoramic view-the thought came to me as I started the second panel. Last summer, the crop was more red due to a dry season and as the sun was setting, it really accentuated the warmth coming across the land.

Sunflower
Oh this was a challenge to paint. I find yellows, regardless of the medium one of the most difficult to depict form and volume. The center part, however, was a lot of fun to create. I love sunflowers and of course will want to paint more in the future too.

Cherry Sensation
I had painted these last year but with a different colour background. I was not too happy with how they looked and changed the colour which I prefer. The warm undertones from the previous background come through. I really enjoyed the challenge of painting cherries and have done some thumbnail sketches for some larger paintings. If only we would get some sunshine out here so that I can photograph.

Pears
These two were painted from life. What I really about painting from life is the challenge of seeing the different colours. If I had used a photograph, I would have missed the subtle colours that were interacting with each other. I am learning how to photograph paintings. I am sorry to say but the actual paintings are brighter. I will get there on uploading better pictures.

Freckles-smaller
I have been away from blogging for a couple of months due to a death. It was difficult to concentrate and focus on my art. I however, am slowly bouncing back. Last month, I started painting again to try to get 10 new paintings to display at the Second Cup on Ellerslie-which I hung ten of them today.
Last summer, I went to a historical site where they kept farm animals. This little cow came up to me and posed. I am slowly branching outwards with my paintings from still life to landscapes and now I have painted some animals. Since I normally work from photos with my coloured pencils and other drawing mediums, I prefer to paint from life. Cows however would not stay still. I do like their personality and their gentle spirits.
