Pears and Glass

Originally, I was going to paint three green pears but saw this red one at the super market.  I really liked how the red dominant colour in this pear interacted and brought out the warm tones in the other two pears.

Transparent Beauty II

Here is my second version of glass and fruit theme.  I really enjoyed painting the shapes of the glass and my favourite part to painting this one was at the very bottom of the glass.  With seeing shapes, values and colours.

Captured Moment

One evening this past summer, while it was quiet outside, I walked behind my parents home and saw these amazing clouds.  Changing its shape within the minute, I wanted to illustrate how beauty graces us with each moment.  Often overlooked, clouds shapes are interesting and very unique.  At times, I love to look at them and try to see many interesting shapes amongst the.  Very good for the imagination.

A Moment In Time

This scene was photographed last summer while I was driving the country side with my father one July evening.  The shadows were long and the colours were absolutely stunning.  I wanted to capture the warm glow from the earth.  A moment in time represents to me the time I shared with my father as we traveled the dusty country roads together as well as to capture the scene of the bales out there in the field before they would be moved.  Too often not noticed by a viewer and often forgotten of its beauty.

After The Rain

This past July, it rained quite a bit and I honestly thought it wasn't going to stop.  Interestingly enough a dry spell occupied the month of August.  Due to the rain, a lot of the crops ripened a few weeks later.  I loved the heavy clouds above the canola field.  When I was out there with my camera, a few glimpses of sun peeked through the depressed clouds.  The grain was wet and the air smelled fresh.

Transparent Beauty I

Here is another version of the glass series with the lemons.  I thought the previous painting in conjunction with this one would make a lovely set in someone's home.  I really enjoyed painting this one as the colours and the challenge of all those intricate shapes at the bottom.

Lemons and Glass

I have decided to do a mini series of glass and fruit.  Each subject that I paint is a wonderful experience in seeing colours and shapes.  Again this one was painted in July during a rainy week while I was on my parents farm.  Nestled in my father's warm shop-cranking the heat slightly in the middle of summer-turned out to be a wonderful painting session. Blue and yellow are very striking combinations.

Regal Fruit II

I was at my parents this past summer and they had these fruits waiting for someone to eat them.  I took the opportunity to paint them instead.  My father's shop became my studio for that week in July.  Loads of space.  I love the reflected colours of the pears and decided to do two and change the composition.
